Japanese folk craft shop in Miyajima

Ebisya Araki Ryokan

The inn with a Japanese atmosphere that has been loved by many cultured people.

The place where the inn is located has long flourished as a good port in the Seto Inland Sea. Originally a shipping agent, “Ebisuya Araki Ryokan”, became a cultural salon under the culture of Bizen ware, and then a traditional Japanese inn after a restaurant. Some of the buildings from that time still remain, and their history has been preserved through additions and renovations.

The place loved by many people, including Bizen Pottery artists and other celebrities such as Rosanjin, has been quietly passed down through the generations. The guest rooms connected by a corridor have luxurious architectural details of the time, and the fittings and fixtures have retained their original quality over time. The garden can be seen from every room, allowing you to experience the seasons.

The cuisine is a refined kaiseki meal featuring seasonal fish from the Seto Inland Sea, with emphasis on the ingredients and truly delicious food rather than just the appearance of it. The dishes served on Bizen ware are delicious and a perfect accompaniment to sake.

Inside the inn, old things such as the old telephone room, clay walls, and polished corridors have been cherished and have the beauty of age carefully preserved over time. However, guests are treated by the family staff without any formalities, so they will feel nostalgic as if they were visiting their grandmother's house in the countryside. This is what the landlady means by "richness” in her words, "I want to provide a rich time". This will be a stay where you can enjoy Japanese culture.

Room | Ebisuya Araki Ryokan
Although some of our guest rooms have been renovated, they were basically built in the late Edo period (1800s). Among those who have been documented to have stayed at the hotel are Ogata Koan, the founder of modern medicine in Japan during the Edo period, and Rosanjin, an indispensable figure in Japanese ceramics and food culture, as well as many writers. The atmosphere at that time still remains today.

Fish from the Seto Inland Sea and seasonal vegetables will be the main ingredients and served on Bizen ware dishes. The texture of Bizen ware and the food are pleasing to the eye, so please take your time and enjoy your meal. We try to make food that tastes good to eat, not just looks good. In particular, sukiyaki conger eel and roasted Spanish mackerel are the specialties of the hotel.

Facilities

Ebisya Araki Ryokan
In the hall, there are finely crafted transoms, aged and gleaming beams, and historic artworks. It is mainly used as a dining room. It seems as if you can hear the history of the Bizen Pottery master's merriment.
