The Akinada Tobishima-Kaido, which begins in Nigata, Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, connects seven bridges to the Akinada Islands, including Shimokamagari Island, Kamikamagari Island, Toyoshima Island, and Osakishimojima Island. 2008 saw the opening of the entire route, which was named the “Akinada Tobishima Kaido”.

Cultural facilities such as Shotouen and the Rantoukaku Art Museum are located in San-nose on Shimokamagari Island. Toyoshima Island has an observatory and beautiful scenery of tangerine fields on its slopes. Osakishimojima Island is famous for its Ocho-orange, and the Mitarai area has an old town that prospered as a port for waiting for the tide.

Driving along the Tobishima Kaido, you will be impressed by the fields of citrus fruits such as mandarin oranges and lemons. Fishing boats in the coves, villages with tiled roofs, and the sparkling calm sea beyond. It is a delicate, simple, and beautiful landscape that makes you want to stop and take in the view. This route preserves the atmosphere and scenery of the island as it was in the past. In recent years, more and more people have begun to enjoy this route by bicycle.

Takehara, with its old townscape that flourished during the Edo period, and Okunojima Island, home to more than 500 rabbits, are also recommended as sightseeing excursion courses.
