Ryotei Matsubaya

Japanese-style inn stands on the hill of Kankaiji Onsen.

"Ryotei Matsubaya" is located in Kankaiji Onsen, one of the eight main hot springs in Beppu. Beppu city and Beppu Bay can be overlooked from there. "Ryotei Matsubaya" has two buildings across the green courtyard. The main building, "Oka-no-sou", has ten rooms and new annex "Tsuki-no-sou", has eight rooms. Each building has a cozy and settled atmosphere.

There are various rooms of great individuality in both buildings. "Oka-no-sou" has pure Japanese-style rooms and western-style rooms with a bed. "Tsuki-no-sou" has modern Japanese-style rooms with a bath. All rooms of both buildings have a modern and fresh atmosphere. Guests of both buildings can use a big bath, lobby and lounge in new annex "Tsuki-no-sou" and a chartered bath in the main building, "Oka-no-sou".

Spring quality of the hot spring is colorless and transparent with a slight sulfurous smell. There are a gender-segregated big bath with an open-air bath and four chartered bathes. All chartered bathes have their distinctive characteristics and they are big enough for a chartered bath. We think that "Yakushi-no Yu" is the most popular of them all. There is a monolith bathtub made by carving a hole in a huge rock with 5 meters in length. You will be touched beyond words when you and have this chartered bath to yourself.

The master chef who trained in Kyoto cooks dinner. The dish using mainly local fish and beef is delicate and elaborate. We place the most importance on the meal of all our services and try to offer our guests every meal to their satisfaction.

The comfort which comes from a little concern of the staffs, a luxurious feeling of a chartered bath and a meal with mild taste will make your stay satisfactory.
