Komecho Ryokan

Budget accommodation with a touch of nostalgia at the port of Imabari.

"Komecho Ryokan" stands right in front of the port of Imabari that used to have regular lines between Honshu and Shikoku before 3 routes by bridges connecting Honshu and Shikoku were built. At that time, there were many people coming and going from the port of Imabari and to meet the needs for these people this ryokan was opened after the end of WWII. The building remains the same since its opening. Inside of the ryokyan, the guests may feel nostalgia and a sense of folkness from the old days.
It may be not convenient for the guests that there is no en-suite bath and toilet in the rooms. However, Komecho Ryokan offers accommodation with 2 meals, dinner and breakfast, with the lowest price among ryokans on Shimanami Kaido. Because of that, many cyclists who run on Shimanami Kaido starts/ends their journey at this ryokan.
Komecho Ryokan put a lot of effort into dinner and prides it as one of their best services. The price of dinner is reasonable and it is practical and home-style dishes. With the extra fee, the guests can get more dishes, simple but full of fresh small fish caught from local sea.
In the lobby, the guests find messages from students, those who were here for the training camp, hung on the wall. By looking at it, the guests would feel how modest and honest the owner family members are as well as people in Imabari are.
Lastly, there is one very distinctive point about this ryokan. Shimanami Kaido is a favorite destination for road cyclists as there are not many accommodations that have air pumps for French valves. The owner family has a good understanding of bicycles so that they pay extra caution about storing bicycles. These services would be appreciated by road cyclers.
